Kolkata, Sept. 1 -- A protest stage erected by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) at Esplanade, near the Gandhi statue, was dismantled by Army personnel today afternoon, sparking a political storm in Bengal.
The stage had been set up by the ruling party to protest alleged humiliation of the Bengali language and harassment of Bengali-speaking migrant workers.
According to Army sources, the structure was dismantled because permission had been granted only till August 31, and the deadline had expired.
