Imphal, April 11 -- Security forces recovered a cache of arms, ammunition, and explosive materials from a forested area in Manipur's Chandel district, police said on Saturday.

The recovery was made on Friday from the forest area of Taijang village under Chakpikarong Police Station. Seized items included one AK-47 rifle, one MP-5 rifle with magazine, four country-made carbine guns with magazines, three country-made single-barrel breech-loading (SBBL) guns, four lathod guns, seven pompi mortars, five pompi shells, suspected IED-making materials weighing about 4 kilogrammes, and 26 rounds of ammunition of various calibres.
