Hyderabad, March 12 -- A Special Sessions Court for POCSO cases in Hyderabad has convicted a 23-year-old Arabic tutor for sexually assaulting a minor girl and sentenced him to five years of rigorous imprisonment.
Special Sessions Judge for POCSO cases G. Uday Bhaskar Rao at HACA Bhavan delivered the judgment on Wednesday evening. The accused, Abdul Qayyum, a resident of G.M. Colony, Chandrayangutta, and a native of Basaitha Bhari village in Madhubani district of Bihar, was found guilty under Section 354-A of the IPC and Section 10 read with Section 9(m) of the POCSO Act.
The court sentenced the accused to five years of rigorous imprisonment, imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 and ordered compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the victim.
