Hyderabad, April 16 -- Communist Party of India (CPI) Telangana State Joint Secretary E T Narasimha on Thursday demanded an immediate apology from BJP MP Tejasvi Surya for allegedly comparing the formation of Telangana to Pakistan, terming the remarks as highly offensive and insensitive.
In a statement, Narasimha said BJP leaders have repeatedly made disparaging comments about the formation of Telangana, reflecting their "hostility" towards the state and its people. He said such remarks insult the sacrifices of thousands who laid down their lives for achieving statehood.
He also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for earlier remarks on Telangana's formation, alleging that such statements had hurt the sentiments of the people.
