Vijayawada, June 24 -- The new spillway gates of the Tungabhadra irrigation dam will be inaugurated by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on June 25 in the presence of his Karnataka and Telengana counterparts D K Shivakumar and A Revanth Reddy besides union Minister C.R. Patil.
A release here on Tuesday said that the Tungabhadra dam project, lifeline for both Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, has a renewed and strengthened infrastructure with the installation of new spillway gates.
The works for the installation of all 33 new gates, undertaken at a cost of Rs 51 crore, have been completed. Constructed 73 years ago, the Tungabhadra dam has been providing irrigation facility to lakhs of acres of agricultural land across the region.
