Rajahmundry, July 13 -- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has reaffirmed the government's commitment to safeguard the Godavari delta and assured top priority to protect the interests of farmers.
He was speaking after unveiling a plaque to launch the works for the replacement of 117 crest gates of Sir Arthur Cotton barrage, across the lower stretch of the river at Dowleswaram, near here, on Monday. The new gates will be constructed at a cost of Rs 153.95 crore. Naidu directed the officials to ensure that the crest gates replacement works are completed by June 2027.
