Vijayawada, March 16 -- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has announced that the government will construct a new Haj House in Amaravati and immediately clear pending honorarium arrears of Rs 45 Cr. for Imams and Muezzins.
Participating in the state government's Iftar dinner held at A Plus Convention Centre here on Monday, the Chief Minister conveyed Ramzan greetings to the Muslim community and joined the special prayers.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Imams are being paid Rs 5,000 per month and Muezzins Rs 10,000 as honorarium. The government has already disbursed Rs 180 crore under this scheme while directing officials to release the remaining Rs 45 crore without delay, he added.
