Vijayawada, March 19 -- The untimely rains which lashed Andhra Pradesh during the last two days have damaged crops in 1,215 hectares in six districts.

Accompanied by hailstorms and heavy winds,the rains damaged crops in 1215 hectares and horticulture crops in 267 hectares in 16 mandals in six districts. Mango, banana and papaya crops have been heavily damaged.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held a meeting with the officials concerned here on Thursday and reviewed the loss of crops. The officials apprised the Chief Minister about the damage of crops due to hailstorms, heavy rain and heavy winds.

The officials explained to him that horticulture crops were damaged in Krishna, Nellore, Sri Satya Sai, Anantapur and Parvatipurm districts. ...
