Guntur, Nov. 11 -- union Minister of State for Communication and Rural Development Pemmasani Chandrasekhar on Monday emphasised the need for proper utilisation of water to achieve the objectives of the Watershed Component's second phase under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sanchayee Yojana.
Addressing the two-day National Conference on WDC-PMSKY programme implementation here, he said that by utilising water properly, six times more agricultural productivity can be achieved to boost local livelihoods.
He felt that there was a possibility of raising two or three crops if the groundwater levels increased by at least three metres. The Watershed 2.0 is being implemented from 2021 to 2026 at an estimatrd cost of Rs 13,000 crores, he noted.
