Anantapur, May 27 -- KIMS Saveera Hospital has successfully treated a 65-year-old heart attack patient using Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL), an advanced coronary intervention technology designed to treat heavily calcified coronary artery blockages.

The procedure was performed by Dr Moode Sandeep, who used the shock wave-based technology to safely address severe calcium deposits in the patient's coronary arteries, the Hospital said in a release here on Wednesday.

According to Dr Sandeep, the patient was admitted with symptoms of an acute heart attack. Coronary angiography subsequently revealed a critical 90 per cent blockage in a major coronary artery.
