Vijayawada, March 21 -- The unseasonal rains which have occurred during the last two days damaged crops worth Rs 63 crores in the State. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held a meeting with the district Collectors and officials on Friday and reviewed the situation.
The officials informed the Chief Minister that crops were damaged in 42 mandals in 12 districts due to unseasonal rains, hailstorms and gales, which occurred two days in the week. The officials told the Chief Minister that maize crop was damaged in 4,840 hectares, paddy crop in 1,534 hectares and black gram in 310 hectares.
Moreover, horticulture crops including banana, papaya, chilli, vegetables, mango, orange and lime, worth Rs 40 crore, were damaged in 48 mandals in 9 dist...
