Srikakulam, July 1 -- : The Central Government's evaluation team on Wednesday called for global recognition of Ponduru Cotton Sarees, highlighting the heritage value and craftsmanship of the traditional handloom cluster in Srikakulam district.
Representatives Harpreet Singh and Srishti, part of the evaluation team constituted by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, visited Ponduru Mandal as part of the One District One Product (ODOP) 2025 initiative.
The team appreciated the efforts of the district administration and handloom artisans in preserving the traditional weaving ecosystem and promoting Ponduru's globally known cotton handloom products.
