Nellore, Sept. 9 -- The YSR Congress Party leaders and farmers, led by former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy, today staged a 'dharna' at Nellore barrage demanding the immediate release of water from the Srisailam project to the Somashila project to save standing crops and meet the irrigation and drinking-waterneeds of Nellore district.
The protest was led by former ministers Kakani GovardhanReddy and Sake Sailajanath. Leaders and farmers reached the barrage in nearly 100 cars and motorcycles. Despite police restrictions, they staged a road sit-in and later entered the barrage premises.
