Vijayawada, July 21 -- Even as political debate continues over the stalled Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (RLIS), the Naidu headed government's emphasis has shifted towards completing legally approved projects, modernising existing infrastructure, strengthening reservoirs, improving water-use efficiency and building long-term water security for Rayalaseema.

Official estimates indicate that irrigation works worth Rs 20,884 crore are currently under implementation across the Rayalaseema region.
