Kakinada, Aug. 12 -- Railway police arrested a five-member women gang and seized 60 kg of ganja worth over Rs 30 lakh at Samalkot railway station on Wednesday.

Railway Circle Inspector Srinivasa Reddy and Sub-Inspector Vasu said the women were intercepted during routine checks near the end of platforms two and three after they were found moving under suspicious circumstances.

During the search, police found bundles of ganja concealed on the railway track below the platforms.

The arrested women, all from Bitragunta in Nellore district, allegedly told police during preliminary questioning that they purchased ganja for Rs 1,000 from a person in Tikri village near Rayagada and sold it in small sachets in the Bitragunta area to make a living....
