Vijayawada, March 6 -- Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan has announced plans to conduct Zilla Parishad (ZP) elections based on the state's newly reorganized districts, while outlining measures to strengthen panchayats and protect the environment.
Speaking in the Assembly on Thursday during demands for Grants on Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Forests, Environment, Science and Technology departments, Pawan Kalyan said the government is making necessary arrangements for the ZP polls aligned with district divisions.
He clarified that there are no legal hurdles to panchayat reorganization. On environmental conservation, the Deputy CM emphasized alternatives to tree felling for road expansion or development projects.
