Vijayawada, Oct. 21 -- The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence seized 3.1 kg of Foreign Origin gold, US dollars and Euros worth Rs 5.84 crore here and arrested five persons.
The DRI officials said on Wednesday that contraband, smuggled Foreign Origin gold & foreign currency (Sale Proceeds) including 3,147.1 grams of gold, USD 60,000 and Euro 21,500 were seized. The seized gold, USD, Euros were worth Rs. 5.84 crore.
The DRI officials said that a specific intelligence was gathered about a gang involved in smuggling of Foreign Origin gold from Bangladesh and further transporting it to Hyderabad via Kolkata.
