Vijayawada, Oct. 29 -- Crops in 3,51,662 hectares were damaged due to Cyclone Arnab in Andhra Pradesh as per the preliminary assessment and the aquaculture sector suffered a loss of Rs 176.82 crore, State Agriculture Minister K Atchannaidu announced here on Thursday.
The Agriculture Minister held a review meeting with the Special Chief Secretary, Commissioners and Directors of the agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry and fisheries departments. Speaking on the occasion, he said that as per the preliminary assessment crop across the state in 3,51,962.60 hectares were submerged and damaged.
Horticultural crops were damaged in 22,457.75 hectares, affecting 77,431 farmers in 15 districts and the the worst affected crop was paddy, he sai...
