Vijayawada, Oct. 29 -- Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Vice-President Kolanukonda Shivaji today appealed to the state government to immediately disburse crop loss compensation to cyclone-affected farmers, emphasising the need for swift action before rainwater drains out of the fields.

Talking to the media here on Wednesday, the senior Congress leader lamented that farmers, especially paddy growers, bore the brunt of the cyclone devastation in the state, with paddy crops in "several lakhs of acres submerged in the water."The APCC Vice-President asserted that urgency is paramount to assist the distressed farming community.
