Vijayawada, July 25 -- The government of Andhra Pradesh will establish Sewerage Treatment Plants (STP) in 80 Government General Hospitals at a cost of Rs 83 crore, Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav said on Saturday.

He held a meeting with the officials and reviewed biomedical waste disposal process in the GGHs with the officials here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister expressed dissatisfaction over the non-treatment of polluted water as per the prescribed standards in teaching hospitals and secondary hospitals.

The Minister noted that only Nuzvid and Banaganapalli area hospitals among secondary hospitals have Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs). Out of 40 teaching and super specialty hospitals, 17 do not have STPs, he said. ...
