Kakinada, Feb. 28 -- At least 20 people were killed and several others were injured when a massive explosion took place in a fire cracker unit at Vetapalem village of Samalkot mandal on Saturday.
Police said that a massive explosion took place at the Suryasri firecrackers making unit killing at least 20 people. Several others were injured in the accident. The condition of most of the injured is said to be critical.
The explosion was so massive that the sound could be heard at the surrounding villages located five kilometers away from the place of the accident. Most of the dead and injured were the workers of the firecrackers making unit, police said.
