Ranchi, June 5 -- A two-day anti-drug awareness and master trainer programme began at Shaurya Auditorium in Doranda on Friday, with experts urging young people to stay away from substance abuse and seek timely treatment.

Addressing the programme, Narcotics Control Bureau official Saif Umar highlighted the social and economic consequences of drug addiction and stressed the need for awareness and counselling to prevent substance abuse.

Dr Sanjay Kumar Munda of the Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) said students and youth were increasingly vulnerable to addiction due to stress, career concerns and social factors.

He stressed the importance of early intervention and awareness.
