San Franisco, Sept. 14 -- Anthropic CEO and co-founder Dario Amodei warned that the rapid development of artificial intelligence carries with it some serious risks and has urged the industry to slow the pace at which increasingly capable AI systems are being built.
"I won't lie to you - there are real dangers," Amodei said. "And I think for too long the industry lied to people about the fact that this technology had risks."A former Anthropic researcher, Jacob Coxon, went as far as to suggest that the development of self-improving superintelligence could pose a potential existential threat to humanity.
