New Delhi, July 15 -- Aam Aadmi Party Municipal Councilor, and a Valmiki community youth leader Vikas Tank joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday in the presence of Delhi state unit BJP chief Harsh Malhotra, and Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal.

According to Delhi BJP media head Praveen Shankar Kapoor, Tank, a three-time Municipal Councillor from an Old Delhi ward, enjoys immense popularity not only within the Valmiki community, but across his constituency.

The development comes days after the Indraprastha Vikas Party, that had emerged after 16 municipal councilors parted ways with AAP last year, had also formally merged with the BJP with its councilors. This strengthened the saffron party in the civic body.
