Varanasi, Oct. 22 -- The Annakut festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Annapurna Temple in Varanasi today. The temple's court was lavishly decorated with 511 quintals of offerings prepared from raw and cooked foods.
On the final day of the five-day Golden Idol Darshan, Mata Annapurna's court was decorated with food grains in the temple pavilion. Preists performed special aarti and puja, and the goddess was also specially adorned while 56 offerings were made to Mata Annapurna.
The images of Maa Annapurna and Shri Ram' were decorated with laddus which became the center of attraction for devotees. It is believed that Lord Shiva begged alms from Mata Annapurna for the sustenance of Kashi.
