Bhubaneswar, Feb. 10 -- In an apparent fallout of caste conflict, upper caste parents of wards enrolled in an Anganwadi Centre in Odisha's Kendrapara district have stopped sending their children to the pre-learning Centre for nearly three months, protesting against the engagement of a Dalit woman as a helper.

The unsavory incident occurred at the Anganwadi Centre in Nuagaon village under Ghalimala gram panchayat under Rajnagar police station jurisdiction. As the Centre remains shut for all practical purposes, the district administration has initiated steps to amicably settle the ongoing dispute by deputing a high-level team to the caste-conflict-bound village.
