New York, Aug. 28 -- Fifth seed Mirra Andreeva and seventh seed Jasmine Paolini marched into the third round of the US Open with straight-sets victories today IST.
Andreeva, 17, continued her impressive run by defeating Clara Burel 6-3, 6-4 in Louis Armstrong Stadium. The Russian teenager, already a two-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist, displayed maturity beyond her years with a composed performance, breaking Burel's serve three times and saving crucial break points in the closing stages of the match. With the win, she reached the third round in New York for the first time.
