Vijayawada, May 22 -- In a bold push to boost biodiversity and climate resilience, the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department has launched preparations to produce and distribute 25 million seed balls across the state, officials said on Friday.
The campaign is being rolled out under the aegis of Deputy Chief Minister and Forest and Environment Minister K Pawan Kalyan.
The initiative - described by officials as a mass public movement for environmental protection - will see large-scale seed-ball production in June, followed by widespread sowing during the monsoon months of July and August.
