Chandigarh, April 27 -- In a major embarrassment for the Punjab Police, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Bhindi Saidan police station in Amritsar has been arrested following the recovery of 2 kilograms of heroin from his possession.

The accused officer, identified as Shashpal Singh, was produced before an Ajnala court on Monday, which subsequently remanded him to one day of police custody for further interrogation. The arrest follows a rigorous internal investigation initiated after senior officials received intelligence regarding the officer's illicit activities.
