Chandigarh, Aug. 26 -- In a significant breakthrough, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police arrested Amit Singh, a resident of Guru Ki Wadali, Chheharta, in connection with a cross-border arms smuggling operation.

The police recovered five Glock pistols, four magazines, and a motorcycle from his possession, effectively disrupting a major criminal network.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Amit Singh, in collaboration with his associate Gurpreet Singh alias Ginny, was in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers.

The group was allegedly involved in trafficking weapon consignments aimed at disturbing peace and harmony in Punjab. The timely arrest has helped uncover a larger network, potentially averting a major crime in the region.
