Amravati, Oct. 22 -- Continuing a four decades old Diwali tradition, hundreds of devotees gathered at the Kali Mata temple in Maharashtra's Amravati following the Lakshmi Puja celebrations to receive currency notes as prasad.
Located in a cremation ground, the temple is famous for its unique practice of distributing currency notes as prasad (holy offering).
The tradition, now in its 41st year, began in 1984 and has continued to draw large crowds each Diwali reflecting their faith and in the case of first timers just curiousity.
