Guwahati, Aug. 29 -- union Home Minister Amit Shah today sounded the poll bugle for the 2026 assembly elections in Assam, saying the saffron party would come to power for a third consecutive term in Assam.
Shah said this while addressing the Panchayat Pratinidhi Sammelan at Guwahati which was attended by over 20,000 newly elected panchayat body representatives of NDA alliance members in Assam.
Crediting the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government for eviction drives against infiltrators, Shah said that a total of 1,19,548 acres of forest, Satra and other government lands have been freed from the clutches of illegal encroachment in last four-and-a-half years.
