Amid stiff opposition from DMK, allies, SIR exercise begins in TN

Chennai, Nov. 4 -- Despite stiff opposition from the ruling DMK and its allies, the SpecialIntensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, ahead of the Assembly elections due in 6-7 monthstime, began in Tamil Nadu today.

The month long enumeration of electoral rolls would continue till December after which thedraft electoral rolls would be published during the second week of next month and the finalrolls in February 2026.

Officials said, the door-to-door voter list revision exercise would cover all 234 AssemblyConstituencies in Tamil Nadu with the participation of nearly 77,000 officials, includingBooth Level Officers (BLOs).
