Agartala, July 12 -- Ahead of the upcoming election to Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) scheduled early next year, the city administration has decided further extension of the AMC area, incorporating surrounding villages, said Mayor Deepak Majumder here today.
AMC has 51 wards at present covering 62.02 sq km with a population of over six lakhs.
With the increase of population and development of infrastructure, AMC has adopted a major expansion plan to transform the capital region with the formation of Greater Agartala, combining the existing 51 wards of AMC with an additional 49 surrounding village panchayats.
