Jammu, June 30 -- Ahead of the start of an annual Shri Amarnath Yatra, thousands of devotees turned out, marking the first day of token distribution here at Tawi Riverfront Centre - a few metres short of the Bhagwati Nagar-based Yatri Niwas.

The annual Shri Amarnath Yatra shall begin on July 3, while the first batch will be flagged off from here on July 2.

Deputy Commissioner Jammu Rakesh Minhas, flanked by Senior Superintendent of Police Jammu Joginder Singh and other officials, supervised the token distribution at the centre.

"A massive turnout of devotees marked the first day of token distribution. Today's quota has been successfully allocated", said the district magistrate Rakesh Minhas.
