London, April 7 -- Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has backed Michael Carrick to become the club's permanent manager.

Carrick was placed in charge until the end of the season in January following the sacking of Ruben Amorim. Since then, the former United and England midfielder has guided the club to seven wins and just one defeat in 10 matches. They now require four wins and a draw from their remaining seven matches to return to the Champions League after a two-year absence.

United's hierarchy have vowed not to rush into a decision and are likely to wait until the end of the season before making the final call, according to BBC sport.
