Prayagraj, May 22 -- The Allahabad High Court on Friday has gone strict on the Uttar Pradesh government and asked to reconsider its policy on granting fire-arms licenses to criminal backgrounds people.

The Court observed that weapons are often used as a tool to display power and create an illusion of security, disturbing social harmony and instils fear and insecurity among people in society.

The Court, in a harsh note, , commented that even as the State said that it adopts a zero-tolerance policy towards gun culture, police concealed information on individuals wielding substantial social and political influence.
