New Delhi, Oct. 13 -- In a major development, Hamas on Monday released all 20 living Israeli hostages who had been held captive since the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel, according to international media reports.

The second and final batch of hostages was handed over to Israel, bringing an end to a grueling 738-day ordeal for the captives and their families.

The first batch of seven hostages was released earlier on Monday, comprising Gali and Ziv Berman, Matan Angrest, Alon Ohel, Omri Miran, Eitan Mor, and Guy Gilboa-Dalal. The release was part of a ceasefire deal brokered by the United States, which also involves the release of nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
