New York, Aug. 26 -- Carlos Alcaraz began his quest for a second US Open title in confident fashion, outclassing American Reilly Opelka 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 today IST at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The Spanish star, who arrived in New York with a fresh buzzcut, showed sharp focus and precision as he controlled the contest against one of the ATP Tour's most formidable servers.

In the opening set, the World No. 2 delivered a flawless display, winning all 20 of his service points and conceding just three first-serve misses. Opelka, despite his booming serve, found little room to trouble the two-time Grand Slam champion in that phase.
