London, March 3 -- Scottish actor and filmmaker Alan Cumming took to his Instagram handle expressing his regret after the 79th BAFTA Film Awards took an uncomfortable turn when a member of the audience shouted a racial slur attacking people of colour, which was aired during the live broadcast.

The incident occurred while "Sinners" stars Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo were presenting on stage. John Davidson, identified as a Tourette's campaigner, was heard shouting the N-word during the broadcast. The moment quickly sparked outrage online and drew criticism from viewers across the globe.
