New Delhi, July 4 -- In a significant push for women's kabaddi, the Asian Kabaddi League (AKL) on Saturday unveiled Women's Chapter 1, the country's first dedicated international professional women's kabaddi league, with Sony coming on board as the official broadcaster for the August 1-16 tournament.

The league, to be telecast in prime time, aims to provide women players with a professional platform, international exposure and greater commercial visibility at a time when most professional kabaddi competitions remain centred on the men's game.
