New Delhi, Aug. 17 -- Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday launched a sharp attack on the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh over severe waterlogging in Prayagraj, alleging that poor drainage and corruption have turned roads in the city into "rivers" and questioning the state of civic infrastructure despite the city being projected as a Smart City.

In a post on his WhatsApp channel, Akhilesh Yadav drew a comparison with the historical development of cities and civilisations along rivers, saying the situation in Uttar Pradesh under the BJP government had produced an altogether different picture.
