Lucknow, Sept. 2 -- Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav today slammed the Uttar Pradesh government over the death of a youth in police custody in Hardoi district and said the death in custody amounted to murder.
Two days ago, a youth died in police custody in Shahabad police station of Hardoi district. Police sources said Shahabad police had detained Ravi Rajput (20) on charges of luring and kidnapping a minor girl.
Police sources said on Sunday, he hanged himself in the toilet located in the police station premises. After this, he was taken to the Community Health Centre Shahabad, where the doctor declared him dead. On receiving the information, Superintendent of Police (SP) Neeraj Jadoun said the incident was being investigated.
