Hyderabad, June 8 -- All India Students Federation (AISF) Telangana State President Kasireddy Manikanta Reddy and State Secretary Putta Lakshman on Monday strongly criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over the proposal to consolidate 27,000 government schools into 4,000 institutions.
In a statement, the AISF leaders said the move was against the objective of strengthening public education and alleged that shutting down thousands of schools would deprive poor students of access to government education.
They questioned the rationale behind the proposal despite earlier Congress promises to protect government schools and increase funding for education.
