Bengaluru, Dec. 1 -- Air Marshal Samir Jayasinha Pendse on Monday assumed charge as Senior Air Staff Officer (SASO) of the Training Command of the Indian Air Force (IAF).
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Air Marshal Pendse was commissioned into the Flying (Pilot) branch on 16 December 1989 as a helicopter pilot. Over a career spanning more than 36 years, he has logged over 5,100 hours of accident-free flying.
During his service, he has held several key command and staff appointments, including command of an Advance Headquarters, two IAF bases, and a frontline helicopter unit. He also served in a United Nations Mission in Sudan and is a graduate of the National Defence College, Dhaka.
