Kolkata, July 28 -- Air India Express has waived cargo charges for registered NGOs and recognised relief agencies transporting essential supplies to Assam, where floodwaters have affected over 4.4 lakh people spread across six districts.
The death toll from the current wave of floods stands at more than 60.
Relief and rescue operations are continuing in the affected areas.
The initiative will help humanitarian organisations transport essential supplies to flood-affected communities and facilitate the movement of relief material into the state.
The waiver will apply to eligible relief consignments carried on Air India Express flights to Guwahati from Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata.
