Amravati, Feb. 8 -- The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has expelled its corporator Meera Kamble after she voted in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate in the Amravati Municipal Corporation mayoral election.

AIMIM leader Imtiaz Jaleel said on Sunday the party, which secured 12 seats in the civic body elections, had collectively decided to stay neutral during the mayor and deputy mayor polls conducted on Friday. Despite this decision, Kamble openly backed BJP nominee Shreechand Tejwani by raising her hand during the voting process, he said.
