Patna, March 2 -- Doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna successfully reimplanted the amputated right hand of a six-year-old girl following a near-total traumatic injury, demonstrating advanced microsurgical expertise and swift emergency response.

Head of Plastic Surgery Dr Veena Singh, who supervised the procedure, said Lakshmi Kumari from Vaishali district sustained a near-total hand amputation around 2 pm on Saturday while playing near a fodder-cutting machine at home.

After initial referrals due to the complexity of the case, the child reached the AIIMS Patna Emergency at approximately 7.30 pm.
