Hyderabad, July 9 -- union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda on Thursday said the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bibinagar, would be fully operational by December 2026, with 87 per cent of the construction already completed.
Talking to the media, after reviewing the progress of the institute, Nadda said the Centre had significantly strengthened the country's healthcare infrastructure under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership by increasing the number of AIIMS institutions to 23 and medical colleges from 370 to 820. He said 18 AIIMS are currently functional, while the remaining institutes are under construction.
