Bhubaneswar, May 28 -- Marking Menstrual Hygiene Day, AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Thursday underscored the importance of menstrual hygiene, dignity and awareness, while urging society to eliminate stigma and misconceptions surrounding menstruation.
Prof. (Dr.) Sweta Singh from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology emphasised the need for proper menstrual hygiene practices and advised women and adolescent girls to change sanitary pads regularly to prevent infections and maintain good health.
Drawing a connection with Odisha's traditional Raja festival, Dr. Singh said Raja Parva symbolises respect for womanhood, menstruation and fertility, reflecting the need to promote awareness, care and compassion towards women's health.
